25 Things You Don't Know About Me
Hello P&P friends!
Today, I decided to do a "get to know me better" post. I'm always posting the projects I work on, or pies, and realized many of you have no clue who I am. And to those who do know me, there might be things on here that surprise you! So here is a list of 25 things you didn't know about me. Enjoy!
1. Watching flash mob videos on You Tube makes me cry from joy.
Ok, this one needs clarification. I always dreamed of being able to go places in real life, where people just break out in song and dance like a big Hollywood MGM musical. So now that people are actually DOING it, it's like a little dream coming true!
2. I'm a professional singer.
Most of you know this. I have been an Actors Equity union member for the last 12-ish years. Done professional theater most of my life, and sing sometimes as a backup singer with the band Brother Josephus and the Love Revival Revolution Orchestra. Check out an old video of me singing.
3. I'm learning the ukelele
I got it last Christmas, and can't put it down. Her name is Zelda, after Zelda Fitzgerald of course. And sometime soon I want to record a small album with songs from the 20's and 30's
4. I go out to eat A LOT!
This is a horrible habit that I'd like to break, but I consider myself a foodie(even though I HATE that term, can we come up with something better please?) I love nothing more than good food, good wine or cocktails, and fantastic service.
5. I'm spoiled Rotten
This is sad but true. I have the most amazing husband who indulges me and my sometimes crazy ideas. He let's me act like a mad woman when I host parties, will run out and get me my favorite bagel while I lay in bed watching crap tv and surf the internet. Plus, he's really good a shopping for me. I have an amazing snakeskin clutch to prove it. (yes, he's straight)
6. I could spend all day in a cheese shop
I don't think I need to explain this one. My weakness is cheese. Really good cheese. If it's stinky and hard to pronounce, I need it! check out my local shop down the street from my house. Next time you're in Williamsburg, stop here. http://bedfordcheeseshop.com/
7. I'm part of a restaurant
It's true. After working 14-ish years in the restaurant industry, I finally quit, and invested in one. It's AMAZING! check us out in the West Village. http://swinenyc.com/
8. It's always been a dream to go to Prince Edward Island
I know your thinking...really Erin? a dream to go to Canada? Yes. I was that little girl who was obsessed with Anne of Green Gables. I watched the movies about 100 times.
9. I have been to Disney World more times than anyone should be allowed
I grew up with a father who was obsessed with Disney, I mean obsessed. We even had a Disney bathroom in our basement. Yuck. Then because I was in the choir AND band in high school, we would travel there to perform. THEN my mother went and bought into the Disney vacation club, after she divorced my dad. We now go as adults sometimes. We go to Epcot and get wasted in "Great Britain".
10. Thinking of 25 things about yourself is hard
11. I love New York
It's true, I have a major love affair with New York. I love everything about her. Her smell, her noise, her energy. I live in the best city in the world! If I'm away for too long, I miss her like crazy.
12. I laugh in my sleep
I don't know when this started, but I have woken up at least 30 times because the bed was shaking from me laughing so hard. I wish I knew what was so funny in my dreams.
13. I love to travel
My husband gave me the travel bug. We love to get out of the country. We also pride ourselves on not being tourists. The most amazing trip we had was last year when we spent 3 weeks in the Philippines. One of those weeks was off the grid on a boat island hopping and sleeping under the stars. It's like we were the only people on the planet.
14. I used to be a Christian
I was raised in a VERY Christian household. Church, youth group, summer camps, the whole nine yards. I stopped going when I was around 16 because of intolerance towards gay men and women.
15. I have a dog named Doug
And yes, I named him that long before the movie UP came out. Here is my handsome boy!
16. I want to do a cookbook
Some people think of writing memoirs, but I dream of a cookbook. Someday.
17. I have the best backyard in Brooklyn
18. I don't own sneakers
I have a serious love for high heels. I wear them almost every day. I think sneakers are dumpy and gross. "But Erin, what do you work out in?" I don't workout, but if I do I wear TOM'S. I know, it's basically like working out barefoot with some thin cloth over your toes. I know.
19. I have an obsession with Lobster
I seriously love lobster and will go to great lengths to eat it often. Lobster rolls, steamed lobster, lobster corndogs etc... it's a problem. I pray that I don't end up with gout someday because of it.
20. I love to Garden
It's that simple. I got the bug from my Grandpa Charlie who grew the best tomatoes in the world. Someday I want a very small farm where I can grow everything I like to eat.
21. I love Piano Bars
Yep! people getting together and singing their faces off is one of my favorite pastimes. My favorite is Marie's Crisis in the West Village. It's in a tiny basement that hasn't been redecorated since the 60's. Everyone crowds around the piano in the center of the room and sings together at the top of their lungs. It's awesome. A show tune sing-a-long!
22.I read trash
This is pathetic. As much as I read books by great authors, and classics. I like to read trash. Like serious trash. Romance kind of trash. Where all the men are so good looking it's not humanly possible, and the ladies are slutty and kind of needy. Don't judge, because I am judging myself far worse.
23. I'm a coffee snob(kinda)
I never drink drip coffee unless it's iced. I have french presses in my house that get used everyday. I used to cook my espresso on the stove top, but that was getting out of hand. Along with heating my milk in a sauce pan.
24. I love Zombie movies and T.V. shows
seriously, I HATE scary movies, but if it has zombies in it, I'm all over it. The Walking Dead, Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead etc...
25. I have an awesome life
I am thankful everyday. I get to dream big, and make those dreams come true. I have a handsome husband, a beautiful apartment, wonderful friends, pets who love me unconditionally, and a new career that inspires me. Right now, I'm pretty high on life!
Thanks for reading! I enjoyed telling you some of my secrets.
